OUR PARTNERSHIP

Pratham USA’s annual Readathon encourages kids in the US to read books while raising awareness and funds for Pratham. Since its inception in 2012, hundreds of children have participated in the Readathon each year and their families and friends have supported them by donating.

On their third year on Rise platform, Pratham Readathon has effectively used peer-to-peer fundraising features with funds being raised by 300 participants.

Readathon 2017: 6,000 children in 225 villages in 3 districts (Baleshwar, Bargarh, and Khordha) in Odisha, India are learning to read, write and do arithmetic.

Pratham was founded on the belief that every child has the right to a quality education. In 1994, with support from UNICEF and the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Dr. Madhav Chavan and Farida Lambay set out to end the vicious cycle of poverty by transforming the educational landscape in the slums of Mumbai.
